ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION
We are recruiting Turkish volunteers for a 2-months project with the Portuguese Red Cross in Vila de Cucujães. The organization is based at a rural village in the North Region of Portugal. Volunteer’s tasks include the transportation of vulnerable people (to hospital appointments, to social security institute, treatments or other places that might be needed), work in the Food Bank (collect food donations, storage them, and give them to people in need), take part in “Dia V” environmental cleaning actions, support at a local cat shelter, support in all activities/tasks that might be needed.
ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS
Accommodation is provided in a shared apartment with volunteers from all over Europe. The volunteers share the bedroom (2 people per room). Volunteers receive 5€/ day of pocket money and 150€/ month of food allowance, they are also entitled to free private health insurance and the reimbursement of travels between Turkey and Portugal. In Vila de Cucujães, the volunteers walk to and from work (approximately 15 minutes).
TRAINING DURING THE ACTIVITY
Volunteers can learn Portuguese language while participating in the project, they will have the chance to live and work in an international environment with people from many different countries.
PARTICIPANT PROFILE
We are looking for open-minded Turkish people who like to be “hands-on” and practical. Candidates must be available for the full duration of the project and be able to communicate in english. Candidates must also be willing to do the Visa process (with the support of hosting and sending organisation and previous Turkish volunteers, who will be available to share their experience).
