ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION
Since 1999 Corner has been designed and set up with the local youth. The centre is located in the northern district of the town, called Itzling. It is a meeting place and shelter for 13 to 19 years old youngsters. The main issues of youth work in the centre are e.g. gender specific programs, promoting culture (events, concerts ….); different workshops depending on the interests of the youngsters, refuge and advice centre for problems; integration of immigrant youngsters. It provides various locations (music studio, sports room, outside area, event room, stage etc.) and activities (tournaments, games, open stages, concerts, radio show, school support etc.) for young people.
ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS
A local standard accommodation is provided. Receives food money monthly from the host organization. Local transport is provided by the host organization.
TRAINING DURING THE ACTIVITY
On-arrival training and Mid-term training in Austria. All costs covered.
PARTICIPANT PROFILE
We welcome the volunteer bringing in his/her own ideas for projects or activities which can be developed during the “general youth centre times”. Basic knowledge of German or English and of computing would be useful. Flexibility and motivation to work with young people would be great. As Youthcenter Corner has more male than female employees they would like to host a female volunteer to ensure gender balance.
