ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION

The”Kita am Haydnplat z ” is a bilingual (german/french) day care centre s ituated in the western part of the city centre of Karlsruhe. The centre welcomes children in the age of 1-6 years from 07.00 am to 17.30 pm for 61 children. A various program for the Children is offered. Besides playing together, they can experience themselves by playing and working with art and colours, doing sports, by being curious in experiments and natural sciences, by playing theatre or by doing handicrafts . The children are always accompanied by the educators. The main goal is that the interests of the children are being supported by the educators and the volunteers. Additional excursions to Museums, the City, parks or playgrounds and many more. ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS

The volunteer will be accommodated in a house with other EVS volunteers. The volunteers share kitchen, bathroom and a common room. There’s no own sleeping room for everybody but we have a rotating system so that everybody can have his/her own room for some time. Beside there’s also a room where guests can be accommodated. The volunteer receives approx. 150 € pocket money and approx. 250 € money for food every month. He*she will also receive a ticket for the public transport.

TRAINING DURING THE ACTIVITY

The volunteer will particpate in a On-Arrival and Midterm-seminar. Additionally the volunteer can take part in a training to become a certified youth group leader. The training is organised by the coordinating organisation.

PARTICIPANT PROFILE

• At least 18 years old • Interest in pedagogique work! • Experiences in working with children are useful • Good knowledge of English (understanding, speaking, writing, reading), basic skills in German or French would be helpful for this postition • You have an accredited sending organization!!!! (PIC number, accreditation number, name and contacts on sending organization) • Open to get to know Germany and German culture and interested to live in another country for a year.
