Masorti wants to host two volunteers from two different European countries in one volunteering activity in two flows. In the framework of this project, two young Europeans will be enabled to become volunteers for a 12-month European Solidarity Corps Activity in the hosting organisation Masorti e.V. Kindergarten in Berlin. The Masorti Kindergarten offers 80 places for children from 1 to 6 years of age in five mixed-age groups (3 bilingual German-Hebrew, 2 bilingual German-English). The everyday life of the Kindergarten is characterised by the Jewish year, jewish festivities and holidays as well as the weekly Kabbalat Shabbat celebration are a central part of its rhythm. Even though all families are Jewish, their Judaism and the Jewish religious praxis are very diverse and influenced by their own heritage and family history. 12 nationalities are represented in the families of the Kindergarten, the Jewish and non-Jewish educators come from seven different countries. Accomodation in an apartment near the kindergarten together with other volunteers (with shared bathroom and kitchen), free monthly pass for local public transport, free meals in kindergarten, meal allowance
TRAINING DURING THE ACTIVITY
introductory and midterm seminar, allowance to German classes, regular learning meetings
The participants should be interested in working in an multicultural Jewish oranization. They should be interested in working with children. the applicants are between 18 and 30 years old (= that they are of age). Their religious or social background, sexual orientation, the languages they speak or any previous experiences of the volunteers do not matter, as long as it is possible to ensure communication. It is important to us, that the volunteers are interested in our activities, that they are interested to know more about Judaism, that they are not afraid to try something new; that they are.
